Printing Tips

The ETHICON Product Catalog is an application that attempts to match a paper catalog as closely as possible. Therefore, for best printing results, certain adjustments need to be made to your browser settings. Below are instructions on how to make these adjustments in some popular web browsers. Details may be slightly different depending on your version.

For Internet Explorer:

Find the Tools (or View in pre-IE 5) menu on your toolbar, and select Internet Options. Click the Advanced tab, and check the box under Printing that says "Print background colors and images".
Find the File menu on your toolbar, and select Page Setup. Set your left and right margins to .25".
It may also be necessary to modify your top and bottom margins or your header and footer configuration.These can also be modified on the Page Setup section

For Netscape:

Find the File menu on your toolbar, and select Page Setup. Check the "Print Backgrounds" box. Set your left and right margins to .25".

A Note On Printing "Actual Size"

Web browsers and most other desktop applications that display images compress images by approximately 25%. (This is not true of applications designed for creating print pieces, such as Adobe Photoshop or QuarkXPress.) Therefore, in order to print the suture images displayed in the ETHICON Product Catalog so that they are "actual size", it will be necessary to change your printer settings to print at 125%. The method for doing this differs depending on your brand of printer; typically, however, find the File menu on your toolbar, select "Print", and then click the button called "Properties". Within that section you should find a tag called Effects or Zoom that will allow you to change your print percentage. Some printers will not support this feature. Please note that printing at 125% will make the printed area wider than 11". If you are attempting to print on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper, some clipping will occur.

A PDF file of all ETHICON needle type images images is also available.These images will print actual size without any modification to your printer settings.
